My New Planner (Fauxdori)

At the beginning of the year I was using a Sugar Paper Planner that I got from Target, and I was loving it!!! It was half way thru May when one day we got home and my lovely Chloe (a two y/o Pit) decided that I needed to buy a new planner. She destroyed it to the point that it's unusable...so instead of mourning my beloved SP Planner I went to work and created a Fauxdori...at last!

A Fauxdori (for those who doesn't know what it is) is a DIY copy (faux) of the Midori Traveler Notebook, there's many many versions of it that you can find on Etsy, and there is one for every taste. From materials like leather, place mats, vinyl, plastic, cloth, and other textiles, different cord designs, and a lot of other add on goodies.

I have watched a bunch of YouTube videos on how to DIY it, so I went to Michael's in search of some materials. I bought a 8.5" x 11" sheet of leather (teal color), elastic cord, and also two sheet of self adhesive felt (one black and one red). At first I want it to back the leather with some scrapbook paper, but didn't have a strong enough glue at home so end up using the black felt that I got, and it work great...

Also did another (underneath the leather one) with a place mat that I got at Big Lots for .90 cents, but to be honest, didn't like it that much. The place mat is like a foamy material and the bends from put it in my purse left a mark on the outside, if you're going to use it at home or work it would work just fine, but don't put it in your purse.

Recently I bought a pack of scrap leather (at Michael's again), it was cheaper than the first sheet and the leather is thicker and sturdier, it was kind of hard to hole punch and had to be stained black (it was a mahogany brown, didn't like it). But it end up looking great and I love it!!

So far I'm loving it...now I can throw it in my purse without worries!

I also made my own inserts; I made them in Word (with the help of a YT video, don't remember her name, sorry), print them in HP Premium Paper 20 Lb., add scrapbook paper as a cover, and staple them together (using another YT video), lastly I cut the edges to the desire size and rounded the corners.

Here's the link to download the inserts I made, they're free!!!
